Calhoun had won eight straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped up to 32-9 to make it nine. Everything went their way against the LaFayette Ramblers as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 2-0 win back in September.

Calhoun's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cate Rutland, who had five digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Lilly Hayward, who had five aces and four digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Calhoun was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups.

As for LaFayette, with the defeat, they broke their seven-match winning streak and moved their record to 34-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since October 10, 2024.

LaFayette's loss came despite strong showings from Caydence Tinklepaugh and Serenity Hancock. Tinklepaugh had ten digs, while Hancock had ten kills. Hancock has been hot recently, having posted six or more kills the last four times she's played.

Calhoun and LaFayette should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Yellow Jackets (ranked 33rd) will meet North Clayton (ranked 409th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, LaFayette will square off against Gilmer at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (68 vs. 249).
