Basketball Game Preview: Murray Spartans vs. Tooele Buffaloes

The Murray Spartans are taking a road trip to face off against the Tooele Buffaloes at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tooele took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Murray, who comes in off a win.

Murray is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against Stansbury on Thursday as Murray made off with a 66-44 victory. The Spartans pushed the score to 54-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Stallions cut but never quite recovered from.

Tooele has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Cottonwood. The game was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Buffaloes couldn't quite close it out.

Murray will need focus on slowing down Halle Hogan, one of several Tooele players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 15 points. The dominant performance also gave Hogan a new career-high in blocks (two). Camila Lora was another key player, putting up five points and 17 rebounds.

Tooele's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Murray, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.

Murray came up short against Tooele in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tooele's Kennedy Searle, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. Now that Murray knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
