Football Recap: Vega Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Vega's offense. They were dealt a 28-0 defeat at the hands of the Olton Mustangs on Friday. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

A big part of Olton's victory came down to the chemistry between Brady Azam and his top target Zayden Falcon. Azam threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns while Falcon picked up 86 receiving yards. Those 185 passing yards gave Azam a new career-high.

Vega now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Olton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-3.

Looking ahead, Vega will take on Memphis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Longhorns will be up against the Cyclones' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Olton, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Floydada at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
