Baseball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Newark last Thursday, Westfield came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Chantilly Chargers by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Tucker Whitacre was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kase Cochran made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Chantilly, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield will welcome Rock Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chantilly, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Centreville at 6:30 p.m.
