Softball Game Preview: Western Hills Cougars vs. Southwest Raiders

The Western Hills Cougars will head out to square off against the Southwest Raiders at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Western Hills will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Western Hills barely beat Diamond Hill-Jarvis the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Western Hills blew past Diamond Hill-Jarvis 19-9 on Monday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Southwest started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Diamond Hill-Jarvis. They came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 17-7. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Western Hills has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Western Hills couldn't quite finish off Southwest in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 7-5. Can Western Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
