Volleyball Recap: Ariana Magallanes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hagerman over Jal

It was a proper cat-fight when Hagerman challenged Jal on Tuesday. The Bobcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

While Hagerman ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-19.

Hagerman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ariana Magallanes, who had 15 kills, 15 digs, and two aces. She has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raeanne Talamantes, who had six digs and three aces.

Hagerman moved to 8-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Jal, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Hagerman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Eunice on the 9th. As for Jal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Tatum on the 9th.
