Softball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 8-3 to the Weston Ranch Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Jasmine Nieto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Franklin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ailani Monreal, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Weston Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Franklin will take on Bear Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Weston Ranch, they will square off against Edison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
