Baseball Game Preview: Mossyrock Vikings vs. Adna Pirates

Mossyrock hasn't had much luck against Adna recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mossyrock 2.8, Adna 0.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Mossyrock will face Adna after dropping another heartbreaker against Toutle Lake on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Vikings lost 9-3 to the Ducks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Mossyrock saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Mitchell, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Wylde Greisen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, Adna strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Winlock with a sharp 17-2 win. Fans of the Pirates have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Adna let Beau Miller and Luke Mohney run wild. Miller scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1, while Mohney scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Miller is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ty Bodenhamer, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Adna's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Mossyrock, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Mossyrock might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Adna in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
