Baseball Recap: Dekaney Triumphs

Dekaney owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Benjamin Davis Falcons by a score of 4-0. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 9-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Anthony Cruz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Cruz wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Michael Hayes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

The win made it two in a row for Dekaney and bumps their season record up to 9-10-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Benjamin Davis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Dekaney will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
