Soccer Recap: McDowell Takes a Loss

McDowell managed to keep up with Watauga until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Titans came up short against the Pioneers, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, McDowell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Watauga are ranked 33rd).

McDowell has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7-3 record this season. As for Watauga, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDowell will host Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. McDowell will be up against Freedom's rather soft defense (which has allowed three goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Watauga, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Stephens at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
