Baseball Game Preview: Centerville Bulldogs vs. Kennard Tigers

Centerville hasn't had much luck against Kennard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Kennard will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Centerville extended their winning streak to five on Thursday. Centerville never let Broaddus get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering Centerville has won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hardy Brown made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Jake Slaten was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Kolt Larsen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kennard). Everything went their way against Neches on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-13 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Kennard.

Centerville pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kennard, their record now sits at 6-15.

Centerville took their win against Kennard when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
