Basketball Recap: Dawson-Bryant Victorious

Dawson-Bryant's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 59-52 victory over the Russell Red Devils. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 75-52 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the defeat, Russell saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ryder Burgess went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points. Burgess' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Benge, who posted ten points.

Dawson-Bryant's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Looking ahead, Dawson-Bryant will take on Tolsia at 7:30 p.m. on February 15th. As for Russell, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 88-52 defeat against Boyd County on the 10th.
