Softball Recap: Hozho Academy Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Hozho Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Hope Christian Huskies with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Wolves have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Adleigh Elkins made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Iris Albert was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mika Thompson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Hozho Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in 12 consecutive games.

Hozho Academy's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Hope Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.

Coming up, Hozho Academy will host Northwest at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hope Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Rio Grande at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Ravens have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
