Soccer Game Preview: Douglas vs. Southside

Douglas is 0-4 against Southside since March of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Douglas Eagles will square off against the Southside Panthers at 7:00 p.m. This will be Douglas' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Douglas fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Boaz on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-1. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Their goal came courtesy of Alexis Juares, who's now up to five this season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Southside sidestepped Priceville for a 3-2 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bulldogs are ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Southside, their record now sits at 6-1.

Douglas suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Southside when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Douglas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
