Baseball Game Preview: Godwin Eagles vs. James River Midlothian Rapids

The Godwin Eagles will face off against the James River Midlothian Rapids on Tuesday. Godwin will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Godwin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Deep Run a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Godwin let Alex Boyd and Camden Lockhart run wild. Boyd went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Lockhart went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Boyd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Mulroe, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Godwin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Deep Run struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for James River Midlothian, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against Freeman on Friday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Rapids in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won four in a row.

James River Midlothian's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Godwin, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.
