After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Parkland brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They never let the Bel Air Highlanders get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Matadors have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Devyn Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Parkland got a massive performance out of Sophia Villarreal, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Villarreal a new career-high. Stephanie Flores was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Parkland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bel Air only posted an OBP of .091.
