Baseball Game Preview: Clovis West Golden Eagles vs. Central Grizzlies

For the second straight game, Clovis West will face off against Central. The Golden Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Clovis West's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Clovis West was able to grind out a solid win over Central, taking the game 9-4.

Reece Van Alen tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season.

At the plate, Luke Gonzales and Micah Raygoza did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzales scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Raygoza scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Gonzales a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Pirok, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Clovis West pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
