Basketball Recap: Capital Cougars vs. North Thurston Rams
Capital was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Thurston Rams. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-53 back in December of 2024.
North Thurston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kurt Cavalier led the charge by going 8 of 14 en route to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Cavalier has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Micah Anderson was another key player, going 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points and five boards.
Capital's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for North Thurston, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Capital will face off against River Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Capital knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully River Ridge likes a good challenge. As for North Thurston, they will welcome Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Thurston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season.
