Basketball Game Preview: River Ridge Royal Knights vs. Wesley Chapel Wildcats

The River Ridge Royal Knights will face off against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, River Ridge took their matchup with ease, bagging a 58-14 win over Anclote. While fans of the Royal Knights might be used to big wins, the 44-point margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

It was another big night for Lauren Lee, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.4 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Vien, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Wesley Chapel waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Bulls 54-29. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Bulls are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wesley Chapel's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for River Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for River Ridge against Wesley Chapel when the teams last played back in February, as the squad secured a 57-30 victory. Does River Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wesley Chapel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
