Softball Game Preview: Lawrence Central Bears vs. Indianapolis Lutheran Saints

The Lawrence Central Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lawrence Central has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Indianapolis Lutheran will arrive with three straight wins.

Things were looking good for Lawrence Central after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Greenwood by a score of 11-10.

Isis Duszynski and Eliana Luter did some serious damage despite the final result: Duszynski went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Luter went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Luter's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Ruschhaupt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Indianapolis Lutheran never let their opponents score on Saturday. They didn't even let Terre Haute South Vigo on the board, marking the Saints' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Indianapolis Lutheran got a big performance out of Zoe Sondag, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Shea Olson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Indianapolis Lutheran hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Lawrence Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Lawrence Central might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Indianapolis Lutheran when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
