Baseball Recap: Schuylerville Victorious

While Schuylerville's win against Amsterdam wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Horses narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Rams 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Horses have posted against the Rams since April 10, 2017.

Lucas Reilly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Reilly was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jackson Dunbar was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ben VanVeghten was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Schuylerville and bumps their season record up to 8-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Amsterdam, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Coming up, Schuylerville will head out on the road to square off against Hudson Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Amsterdam, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Albany at 4:30 p.m. The Rams are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
