Baseball Recap: Western Hills' Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

While Western Hills's win against Carroll County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-6 back in March.

Western Hills let Gavin Murphy and Owen Woodson run wild. Murphy went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Woodson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Murphy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Caldwell, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Western Hills' win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-10. As for Carroll County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Hills will take on Henry County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wolverines have won three straight at home, while the Wildcats won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Carroll County, they will face off against Grant County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
