Basketball Recap: West Seneca East's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pioneer, West Seneca East was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They strolled past the Lackawanna Steelers with points to spare, taking the game 67-52. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

West Seneca East's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Craig Leslie, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Leslie a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Dominic Madding, who went 8 for 14 en route to 20 points and three steals.

West Seneca East's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Lackawanna, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Cheektowaga the next time they take the court. West Seneca East will host Cheektowaga at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Lackawanna will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
