Baseball Recap: Barstow's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Barstow had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights by a score of 6-1. That's two games straight that the Aztecs have won by exactly five runs.

Steven Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kekoa Samples, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Joshya Romero, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The victory got Barstow back to even at 3-3. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Barstow will square off against Silver Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they will take on Hesperia at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
