Baseball Recap: James Clemens Falls Short Against Ranked Grissom

James Clemens faced Grissom in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. James Clemens fell just short of Grissom by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-1 defeat back in February.

James Clemens got a good showing from Braden Powless, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Bryson Hodge was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

James Clemens' defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7. As for Grissom, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

James Clemens didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-6 victory against Riverdale on the 27th. As for Grissom, they have also already played their next game, a 4-0 win against Guntersville on the 27th.
