Basketball Recap: Largo Takes a Loss

If Largo was riding high fresh off their 68-29 takedown of Tarpon Springs on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Largo Packers took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braden River Pirates on Friday.

Braden River found their leader in sophomore Anquan Polynice, who went 6 for 10 en route to 20 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was Polynice's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Fields, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Largo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Braden River, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Largo has already played their next game, a 76-48 defeat against Seminole on the 18th. As for Braden River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-45 victory against Lakewood Ranch on the 21st.
