Baseball Game Preview: Crystal River Pirates vs. Chiefland Indians

The Crystal River Pirates will face off against the Chiefland Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crystal River will be strutting in after a victory while Chiefland will be coming in after a loss.

Crystal River took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Dunnellon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Crystal River's pitchers stepped up to hand Dunnellon a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since February 13th.

Crystal River saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Meek, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Crystal River hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunnellon struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, Chiefland came up short against Dixie County on Friday and fell 7-3.

Chiefland has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Crystal River's victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
