Baseball Recap: Ontario Wins Going Away Against Montclair

Ontario had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Montclair on Friday. Ontario put the hurt on Montclair with a sharp 11-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Jaguars have posted against the Cavaliers since April 26, 2022.

Eric Samaniego was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Samaniego was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Damian Lua was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Modesto Verdin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Ontario always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ontario's record is now 5-3. As for Montclair, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Ontario will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Don Lugo at 3:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for Montclair, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-0 loss against Kennedy on the 22nd.
