Baseball Game Preview: Marion Scarlet Hurricanes vs. Virginia High Bearcats

Marion is 2-8 against Virginia High since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Scarlet Hurricanes will welcome the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m.

Marion is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Richlands on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Tornado. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brody Whitt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Stuart, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Virginia High got the win against Graham on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Virginia High's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1.
