Basketball Recap: Jalen Taggart and Avery Council Secure Win for Rush-Henrietta

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rush-Henrietta had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the McQuaid Jesuit Knights by a score of 65-57. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royal Comets.

Rush-Henrietta was led to victory by Avery Council and Jalen Taggart. Council went 7-for-13 on his way to 21 points, while Taggart shot 47% from the field en route to 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Taggart has scored at least a third of Rush-Henrietta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Abdul-Haqq, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Quinn Wilson, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards Wilson has posted since back in December of 2024. Henry Fox was another key player, going 8-for-17 to rack up 19 points.

Rush-Henrietta's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for McQuaid Jesuit, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Rush-Henrietta will square off against Fairport at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Fairport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. McQuaid Jesuit does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
