Harlingen South owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Weslaco East Wildcats. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Not much got past Lexi Sandoval, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Weslaco East off the board. Sandoval has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaylin Mata, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Lauren Gonzalez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Harlingen South pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Weslaco East, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-3.

Harlingen South has already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Mercedes on the 1st. As for Weslaco East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-4 win against Edcouch-Elsa on the 1st.
