Basketball Recap: South Beloit's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of three wins, South Beloit's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christian Liberty Chargers. The Sobos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why South Beloit lost, don't look at Coltan Porter. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Porter's fourth in a row with at least 20 points.

South Beloit's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Christian Liberty, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

South Beloit has already played their next matchup, a 79-52 defeat against Lutheran on the 13th. Christian Liberty will take on Harvest-Westminster in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
