Basketball Recap: Rock Point Comes Up Short

Rock Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Williams Vikings. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 69-61 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Williams got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josh Rue-Wilbur out in front who went 5 of 6 on his way to 17 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Rue-Wilbur a new career-high in blocks (three). Mario Pedraza was another key player, going 9 for 16 en route to 21 points and three steals.

Rock Point's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Williams, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Rock Point Cougars take on the St. Michael Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Williams, they will challenge Joseph City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Williams is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
