Preview: Mackay Miners vs. American Heritage Patriots
The Mackay Miners will be playing at home against the American Heritage Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mackay will be strutting in after a win while American Heritage will be coming in after a defeat.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Mackay proved on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 win over Leadore.
Mackay's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ruger Nicholls, who scored 12 points along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds, and Kaizer Summers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Summers has scored at least 25% of Mackay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teyler Rogers, who scored 5 points.
Meanwhile, American Heritage took a serious blow against Challis on Thursday, falling 50-20. That's two games in a row now that American Heritage has lost by exactly 30 points.
The win got Mackay back to even at 1-1. As for American Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
