Basketball Recap: Chicago Mt. Carmel's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Chicago Mt. Carmel was the 47-36 winner over Loyola Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan fell 67-57 to the Loyola Academy Ramblers on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Caravan came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Ramblers are ranked 47th).

Despite the loss, Chicago Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Cameron Thomas, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 23 points and five boards. The game was Thomas' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Grant Best, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Chicago Mt. Carmel's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4. As for Loyola Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chicago Mt. Carmel will welcome St. Laurence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Loyola Academy, they will be playing at home against Providence Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
