Softball Recap: Gunderson Victorious

While Gunderson's win against Independence wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gunderson Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Independence 76ers 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the 76ers: they've now won seven in a row.

Dezirae Regalado made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Regalado was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Ocanas, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Vejar, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.

Gunderson's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Independence, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunderson will venture away from home to square off against Yerba Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give Gunderson their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Independence, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Evergreen Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
