Baseball Recap: San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Takes a Loss

San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy extended their losing streak to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-14 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Clyde Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Clyde, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Clyde's part, Jackson Poole was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Poole has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Clyde let Landon Deal and Ethan Guzman run wild. Deal went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Guzman went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Caden Winters was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clyde beat San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy by a score of 8-0 on Tuesday.
