Baseball Recap: Sharyland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Sharyland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders on Friday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rattlers have posted since April 2, 2024.

Emilio Villarreal tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Fabrizio Salinas, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Carlos Pascual, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sharyland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they moved to 26-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Sharyland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
