Baseball Recap: Florence Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Florence, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ridgeland Titans on Monday, sneaking past 2-1. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 16-7 win the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Brady Griffin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Florence secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Bryan Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Florence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgeland, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Florence didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-5 loss against Oak Grove on the 18th. As for Ridgeland, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-7 defeat against Pearl on the 19th.
