Softball Game Preview: Port Huron Northern Huskies vs. New Haven Rockets

The Port Huron Northern Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the New Haven Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Port Huron Northern has four straight victories, New Haven has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Port Huron Northern got the win against Warren Woods-Tower by a conclusive 12-2. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for New Haven's offense. They came up short against Fraser on Monday, falling 15-0.

New Haven saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabrielle (Gabby) Goetz Class 2025, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Port Huron Northern pushed their record up to 5-1-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything went Port Huron Northern's way against New Haven when the teams last played on April 3rd, as Port Huron Northern made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
