Baseball Game Preview: Bernie Mules vs. Holcomb Hornets

The Bernie Mules will challenge the Holcomb Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bernie barely beat South Pemiscot the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mules were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Mules in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Holcomb, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Senath-Hornersville on Saturday as they made off with a 9-1 win.

Holcomb is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bernie, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.

Bernie came out on top in a nail-biter against Holcomb when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Mules have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
