Football Recap: Stamford Black Knights vs. Harding Presidents
Stamford unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 22-6 fall against the Harding Presidents on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Black Knights of the 36-26 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2021.
Jack Healy threw for 147 yards and one touchdown. Isaiah Stephens was his top target, picking up 81 receiving yards. On the ground, Michael Kerr rushed for 77 yards.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Conell McKinney and Derrick Stancil. McKinney rushed for 49 yards and a pair of scores while Stancil picked up 91 receiving yards and one TD. Stancil was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 62 yards.
Stamford and Harding will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Black Knights are set to take on their familiar foe Staples at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Harding will face off against rival Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
