Softball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Roosevelt dropped to 22-9 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Riverview Pirates, falling 11-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 19-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Brooklyn Chlipala made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Riverview, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.

On Riverview's side, Makayla Raymond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Riverview let Sis Ferrara and Kinley Hagedorn run wild. Ferrara got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Hagedorn went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Keira Logan was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one double.

While Roosevelt had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
