Basketball Recap: Coconut Creek Comes Up Short

Coconut Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Taravella Trojans 70-39. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.

Despite the loss, Coconut Creek had strong showings from Jahvon Jasmin, who posted 13 points and four steals, and Zay Aliensy, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Coconut Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Taravella's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nick Florea, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 20 points along with seven assists and three steals. The contest was Florea's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Arriaga, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and eight assists.

Coconut Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Taravella, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Coconut Creek will take on Deerfield Beach at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Taravella, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-43 victory against Cypress Bay on the 14th.
