Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Johnson Central

Johnson Central lost to Lawrence County back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Golden Eagles blew past the Bulldogs 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Bella Bowen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mayson Delong was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Josie Dials, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Johnson Central pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnson Central will host Martin County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lawrence County, they will square off against Symmes Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
