Recap: The Classical Academy Titans vs. Rampart Rams
After a string of four wins, The Classical Academy Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rampart. The Classical Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rampart apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
The Classical Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alaina Bonacquista, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Bonacquista hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Flowers, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Emily Huxtable was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with two steals and two blocks for Rampart. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huxtable has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Izzy Dalrymple, who scored nine points.
The Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Rampart, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
The Classical Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Mesa Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mesa Ridge and The Classical Academy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Rampart won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vista Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Vista Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.1 points per game.
