Basketball Recap: Aiden Hampton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Haven Christian over Lancaster Christian Academy

South Haven Christian and Lancaster Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but South Haven Christian had to settle for second. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancaster Christian Academy Knights. South Haven Christian's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Several South Haven Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Hampton, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Hampton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Atkinson, who went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Even though they lost, South Haven Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lancaster Christian Academy only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Lancaster Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Whitt, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Whitt's evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Lleyton Logel, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 16 points and seven boards.

South Haven Christian's loss dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Lancaster Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-3.

Coming up, South Haven Christian will face off against Franklin Road Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 20th. As for Lancaster Christian Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 71-57 defeat against Franklin Christian Academy on the 13th.
