Softball Game Preview: East Ridge Knights vs. Olympia Titans

East Ridge has gone a perfect 4-0 against Olympia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will square off against the Titans at 5:00 p.m. East Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

East Ridge took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past The Villages Charter 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since February 28th.

East Ridge let Veronica Peterson and Lelia Bolden run wild. Peterson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Bolden went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Bolden has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Land, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Olympia had no problem doing just that on Monday. They blew past the Warriors 10-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Sasha Do, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rebecca South, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

East Ridge's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Olympia, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.

East Ridge took their win against Olympia when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
