Basketball Recap: Trinity Bulldogs vs. Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles
Trinity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles, falling 72-30. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-43 back in December of 2024.
Despite the loss, Trinity saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zy'Iveon Holmes almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Walker Parrish, who posted six points.
Jaxon Mabe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Uwharrie Charter Academy, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Mabe a new career-high. Zymorie Sturdivant was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.
Trinity didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-33 loss against Providence Grove on the 4th. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 77-66 defeat against Randleman on the 4th.
