Football Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. Northridge Knights
The Kearns Cougars will take on the Northridge Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Kearns took a blow against Woods Cross, falling 63-14. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Northridge was able to grind out a solid win over Layton on Friday, taking the game 23-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Northridge can attribute much of their success to Tre Nye, who threw for 221 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 40 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Ortiz was another key player, gaining 104 total yards and a touchdown.
Northridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Israel Arocha, Carson Brent, and Preston Haney picked up one apiece.
Kearns' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Northridge, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.
